Infographic Monitoring Social Buzz for Rising Artists at SXSW 2013

As SXSW makes its highly anticipated return this year we take a look back at the social media buzz infographic we created for SXSW 2012 and compare the data to our newly created infographic for SXSW 2013.

Looking back at the fastest growing artists of 2012 we know that the top two artists Kimbra and Ed Sheeran have both had phenomenal success, with Kimbra sharing a Grammy win with Gotye for their monster hit “Somebody That I Used To Know” and Sheeran becoming one of the top selling British artist’s last year.

Artists with the fastest growing online profiles for 2013 include emerging Brits such as shaven-headed songstress, Laura Mvula and south London band Bastille. Also among 2013’s fastest growing online profiles are veterans including the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

LA rapper Kendrick Lamar has experienced the biggest growth in social media fans since his performance at SXSW last year and he was also one of the most mentioned artists in the media alongside Justin Timberlake who made his much hyped comeback this year.

The infographic clearly shows that SXSW has had a significant effect in boosting the online profile of its performers. At SXSW 2012, performers saw a 30% average increase in daily new fans during the event. SXSW has always been known for providing a platform for upcoming talent and our infographic provides some insight into which artists will be causing the biggest stir in the music industry over the next few months.
